30 / matters magazine / summer 2019 Art Project A perennial favorite, the Community Art Proj- ect will return to the festival’s South Field. It’s a fun and creative activity for all ages, and makes a great family project! Participants are assigned pixels to create their own design. The pixels are then assembled on the baseball backstop in Memorial Park to form a larger collage. Car Show The annual car show has a brand- new location for 2019. Antique cars, collector cars, muscle cars and motorcycles will be on display along Dunnell Road, between Oakland Road and Oakview Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Vehicles can be registered for $15 in advance or $20 on July 4. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded. Admission is free for spectators. The first 50 vehicles to regis- ter at maplewoodcivic.org will receive a $10 voucher redeemable at the Oakview Avenue Concession & Merchandise Tent. Concert A variety of artists will perform on the main stage, including afternoon headliners The Nerds, and evening headliners The Cameos. The Nerds have performed in venues across the country, and high-energy shows featuring rock & roll classics have helped earn them a reputation as one of America’s most popular cover bands. The Cameos are an eight-member oldies/vocal harmony group who create and perform their own unique renditions of the most popular songs of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Morning Activities The Bikes Etc.
