10 Summer 2016 localmatters Summer is the per- fect time for tennis and golf en- thusiasts to hone their skills. The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School  offers tennis  classes  for adults and high school students. Experienced instructor Adam Levitt can help improve a serve, forehand, backhand, volley and overhead. Group classes allow students to meet other players of similar skill so they can continue to play for the rest of the season. Classes start June 28 and meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings until July 14 (rain date: July 19): beginners from 6-7 p.m. and intermediates from 7-8 p.m. at Cameron Field Tennis Courts, 5 Mead Street, South Orange. Stu- dents must bring a tennis racquet and a can of unopened tennis balls to class. The Adult School offers les- sons for adult and high school golf- ers as well. Lou Ruina, head golf professional at the Millburn Golf Course in Short Hills, is teaching morning classes from 10-11:30 a.m. and evening classes from 6:15-7:45 p.m.  starting July 5 and meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays until July 14 (rain date: July 19). Classes meet at the Township of Millburn Golf Course, 335 White Oak Ridge Road,  Short  Hills;  all  equipment is provided.
