Miller Oysterfest will be held Saturday, September 17 from 1-9 p.m. at The Woodland, 60 Woodland Road, Maplewood. This event is designed to celebrate a special man and raise awareness about melanoma. Bob Miller was a proud Maplewood resident for more than a decade. He lived near Maplewood Village, where he and his wife, Grace, were raising their four young girls. Miller was a world- class architect who had just started his own firm in New York City. He passed away in March, 2014 after a two-year battle with melanoma. The Oysterfest will include bands (Brian Kirk and the Jerks will be back by popular demand), food and activities for kids. An exclusive V.I.P. lounge will be available with wine and Irish whiskey samplings in addition to an all-inclusive food and open bar. Free melanoma screenings also will be conducted throughout the day.
