localmatters / 11 Maplewoodstock Music & Arts Festival July 8 - 9 T he 14th Annual Maplewoodstock Music & Arts Festival will be held at Memorial Park on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday July 9 from noon until 10 p.m. Twenty- four bands were selected from more than 100 applicants who span from Es- sex County, NJ to Essex England and represent a stylistically-wide variety of rock, pop, soul, R&B, funk, folk, reggae and world beat. Ma- plewoodstock gives voice to local and regional talent, while lending the stage to a few artists a bit further away. Each day is capped with an inter- nationally-touring headliner. Saturday’s headliner is the legendary Los Lobos and Sunday’s show will feature The Hip Abduction and then close with Ruthie Foster. In addition to the music, there will be local arts and crafts vendors. The food court will have op- tions for the whole family from chicken fingers and tacos to lobster rolls and gluten-free cupcakes and a beer garden. For kids there will be a large KidZone with games, inflatable rides, crafts and more. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic bas- kets and pack the hillside park for a family-friendly weekend of music, art, food and the best of the Maplewood community.
