Suki is on the board of JESPY House, so Heather has a direct line into their needs through her. When their lobby needed an update, we worked together to choose new paint colors that would spruce up the space. What makes JESPY House a real treasure is the comprehensive services they offer from cultural arts to sports, to vocational training and more. Because of them, clients like Suki’s brother can live independent lifestyles and contribute to society. Nothing makes us happier than getting a hug from a client.They’re like our extended family. Vanessa Pollock Because my family is filled with musicians who have access to just about any instrument, it broke my heart when my son told me about kids in school who couldn’t afford to rent their instruments for band or orchestra. I wanted to do something about that, so three years ago, my husband and I partnered with the Achieve Foundation forming TheVanessa Pollock Music Initiative. To date, the Initiative has raised and donated over $35,000 to provide instrument rentals to children in-need as well as private instruction to musically-talented students.We’re also repairing and adding to the en- tire district’s instrument inventory to benefit all students. In personal terms, this work is an outward expression of the second of two rules my family lives by: Love God and Love people.
