Advance purchase discounts and group discounts are available online. Buy wristbands early and save More than 40 activities are included with your wristband purchase. Buy them early at maplewoodcivic.org, at Town Hall, Hilton Library and BCB Bank loca- tions in Maplewood and South Orange for $8 or at entrance gates on the day for $12. Early-bird and group discounts are available. Wristbands are required for festival admission and include all-day field access, concerts, car show, and our perennial favorites: kids’ dashes and relays, CHS robotics expo, art project, ice cream and other competitive eating contests, tennis and other athletic contests, baking contest, karaoke, pet awards show, live music, talent showcase and fireworks. Tickets for other activi- ties, such as carnival games and amusements, will be available for purchase on-site. . Art Project A Maplewood Fourth of July tradition spearheaded by John Kaufman with the support of 1978 Maplewood Arts Center, the art project will be mounted on the big ball field backstop in Memorial Park's South Field. A community-wide enterprise, stars and “pixels” begun all around town starting in May will be installed and displayed, each one an opportunity for individual expression. Seeking “what holds us together, underlying our respect for flag and institutions,” do what you want and make a statement as we “take our flag apart in a patriotic explosion of red, white and blue to see what it is about and to energize democracy.” Car Show Maplewood's third Car Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Memorial Park. Trophies will be awarded. Cool cars, movie cars, celeb- rity cars, antique cars, collector cars, muscle cars, motorcycles and others are invited. Car owners can enter their vehicles online at maplewoodcivic.org. Live Music – on Two Stages There will be something for everyone at our all-day concerts in a wide selec- tion of songs and styles. Our South Field main stage will feature performances by The Jersey Girls, David Beasley and Park Avenue. The North Field stage has an all-day lineup of live bands and local talent. Before the fireworks, there will be a light show and DJ dance party in front of the main stage. Big Events Tent There will be free activities all day in The Big Events Tent on Memorial Park's South Field. Enjoy newly-added attractions as well as perennial favorites including the pet awards show, robotics, the talent showcase and the ice cream and other com- petitive eating contests. Look for an event schedule posted under the tent. Check maplewoodcivic.org for times and details. A notable favorite is the baking contest for all ages: entries need to be at Big Events Tent in Memorial Park South Field between 9 - 9:30 a.m. Categories include cake, pie, pastry, bread, cookie/ bar and presentation.
