my hometown / 23 I’m from Lynnfield, Mass. I grew up in Peabody, Massachusetts and later in Lynnfield. Life back then was simple. After school, I played outside with friends, watched TV with my family and spent time with my four siblings, who I’m still very close to today. My parents worked incredibly hard and growing up in a household where nothing was handed to us taught me responsibility, gratitude and a strong work ethic. While I was in high school, I spent most of my time working at a gas station and lifting weights. I learned early that persistence and hard work were the keys to building the life I wanted. My childhood was spent with the Joyce sisters across the street, Gruning’s hot fudge sundaes after school, sledding down Floods Hill and ice skating on the duck pond in winter. No cell phones, bikes instead of cars — just kids being kids in a town that felt safe and alive. Growing up here gave me my sense of what community feels like. I’ve spent the last 22 years trying to give my own kids the same thing in the same town. JEN GREENBERG Compass, The Jen Greenberg Group Millburn | 917-757-3287 jen.greenberg@compass.com | jengreenberggroup.com I’m from Bay Ridge, NY I’m a city girl, having grown up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, in a two- family house with my aunt and uncle upstairs. We were part of a tight-knit Lebanese community. I loved having complete independence to explore the city – Shore Road, 86th Street and Kings Plaza – whether it was by bike or subway. For high school, I attended an all-girls high school in Staten Island, where I formed lifetime friends. It was hard to leave Brooklyn, but when my husband and I discovered Maplewood, we instantly fell in love with its charming homes, diversity, accessibility to the airport and city and small-town feel.
