THE ABLE BAKER
“
I have loved baking since I was a
kid. But I thought of it as a hobby; I
never imagined it would become my pro
fession. My career before the bakery was
in retail management, so once I opened
a storefront, I understood the financials,
the operations and the people aspect of
running a business. Still, there was so
much to learn – starting with what size
bakery boxes to buy! Though my retail
background ended up being very help
ful, it’s the people who work (and have
worked) at the bakery that have made
the greatest contributions. They brought
recipes and ideas and skills that shaped
not only the menu, but the culture of
the business and, ultimately, made our
expansion in South Orange possible.”
DO WHAT
YOU LOVE
FOLLOW YOUR
CURIOSITY
“
In school and my career, I have al
ways followed my curiosity, trusting my
instincts to pursue subjects and oppor
tunities that are meaningful to me. This
has taken me from studying English and
anthropology to working in finance,
publishing and law. My love of learning
about people and cultures, along with
my desire to help others, strengthened
by two years in the Peace Corps, led
me to immigration law. I spent many
years working for the U.S. government
in that field. In 2024, I started my own
practice, focusing exclusively on U.S.
Immigration and Nationality Law to
develop individualized legal solutions.
I work with people bringing family to
the U.S., employers expanding their
workforce with foreign-born talent and
people challenging immigration deten
tion and pursuing relief from removal
in Immigration Court. I’m grateful for
the opportunities that have helped me
build a rewarding career.”
DRIVEN TO
SUCCEED
“
My parents worked hard for what
they had, so I learned early that if I
wanted something, I had to work for
it. I've always had that drive, so when
I entered real estate, I applied the busi
ness skills I had developed in prior
careers in the public and private sectors.
I built a professional, knowledgeable
and responsive approach to serving cli
ents that addressed the voids I saw in
the industry. Rather than serving one or
two towns, I got to know communities
beyond my home base to match buy
ers with places that suited their person
alities and lifestyles. At the time, I had
no staff to rely on so I single-handedly
learned every facet of the business my
self. Drive, work ethic, integrity, hones
ty, empathy and authenticity remain the
cornerstones of my career.”
